YGR® Disposable Vaginal Speculum

The Disposable Vaginal Speculum is a single-use medical device designed to provide safe, effective, and hygienic vaginal access during gynecological examinations, particularly for cervical cytology procedures such as the Pap smear test. It facilitates clear visualization of the cervix and allows for the smooth collection of cervical cell samples.

Intended Use:
This device is used to:

  • Enable accurate collection of cervical epithelial cells for Pap smear screening.

Instructions for Use:
  1. Preparation:
    • Ensure hands are properly sanitized and wear sterile gloves.
    • Open the sterile packaging and remove the disposable speculum.
  2. Patient Positioning:
    • Ask the patient to lie in the lithotomy position on the examination table.
  3. Insertion:
    • Gently separate the labia and slowly insert the closed speculum into the vaginal canal at a slightly downward angle.
    • Once inserted, open the blades using the handle until the cervix is clearly visible.
  4. Locking:
    • Rotate the rubber bayonet 90 degrees to lock the jaws of the speculum in place.
  5. Pap Smear Sampling:
    • Use a cervical brush or spatula to collect cell samples from the transformation zone of the cervix.
  6. Removal:
    • Release the lock, gently close the blades, and carefully remove the speculum from the vaginal canal.
  7. Disposal:
    • Discard the used speculum in a designated medical waste container following clinical waste protocols.
